Vernonia Public Library Student Art Gallery
Posted by Vernonia Public Library on Jun 17, 2019
Check out our new “Student Art Gallery.” The gallery has been in the works for the past year, a joint project between our seven-member Library Board and the Vernonia Middle School/High School Art program. The idea stemmed from a discussion on youth in the Library, a desire to make it more inviting and comfortable for teens.
If you walk the perimeter of the Library, you will find art on every wall. A total of 17 pieces, 11 9 x 12 linoleum block prints and 6 paper collages. Students from the Middle and High School art classes submitted work to the Library Board. From submissions, 17 were selected for the gallery. Current pieces will be up through the end of the year, with a new round of art beginning January 2020.
Student artists contributing to the gallery include: Autumn-Soleil Baronas, Isaiah Bozied, Sarah Evans, Wanna Grimes, Angela Iem, Vanessa Johnson, Sarah Law, Paige Mendelsohn, Raeleigh Mergel, Hennessy Mullikin, Anayra Osuna Martinez, Jenna Romaine, Arlan Shipley, Jade Smith, Ty Smith, Zoe Whiteman, and Wyatt Woodall.
Thank you so much to Kaitlyn Carr-Kiprotich (VHS/VMS Art Teacher), all student artists who submitted work, Haley Ayres (Library Board Chair), Library Board members, the Community 101 Leadership Class, Friends of the Vernonia Library, Library volunteers, and the Vernonia School District for supporting our project.
Please join us in recognizing the hard work of these students by visiting the Library and touring the gallery.
