Interactive Oregon American Mill Map

One of the more interesting historical maps of Vernonia I’ve come across is of the Oregon American Lumber Co. mill site. This map was originally produced in 1925 and had it’s final revisions in 1943. The buildings and infrastructure of the mill are shown, as well as surrounding parts of town.

I georeferenced a high resolution scan of the map and added it to an interactive web map overlaying current local imagery to make this map available to everyone. The application includes an opacity slider in the upper right hand corner to change the opacity of the overly; and a Locate button in the upper left hand corner for zooming to your current location with a GPS enabled device.
